Programs
UMUMR’s mission, to
connect people and organizations so that they may work
together to form strong communities, is carried
out by focusing on four primary program areas:
feeding, education through mentoring, affordable
housing, and jobs/job skill development.
Our other program areas are reconciliation,
Hispanic/Latino, children & youth, health care,
and youth mission.
We support urban ministry initiatives already
happening in congregations and organizations across
Richmond by providing resources, evaluation,
recruiting volunteers, and facilitating partnerships.
Additionally,
UMUMR helps to initiate and strengthen urban ministry
projects through the nationally recognized model for
community development: Communities of Shalom (http://www.umumr.org/shalom.htm).
Through the tools offered in the Communities of
Shalom training, faith congregations, community
agencies, school groups, civic associations, business
and other community groups can build strong,
empowering urban ministry programs.
Click the program areas on the navigation bar to
the left for more information about ways to get
involved with each program area.
If you are aware of other opportunities that
should be added to our lists, please email us at info@umumr.org.
